The stories we create are woven from strands of our experiences, our dreams, our beliefs, our education, along with many other things that have impacted us. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was written by J.R.R.Tolkien an published in 1954. Tolkien was born in 1892 and grew up in England. The books were written between world war 1 and world war 2. Leading to the question, is there more to Middle Earth? Is it more than an epic, fast paced intricate fantasy story? Are there underlying themes that tie into religion? Was Christianity the catalyst for this series? Or were these just stories Tolkien created while doing his duties during the war to make it seem bearable?  Throughout this project I will research and display the parallels from The Lord of the Rings and Christianity. With the help from the links in the bibliography on the next page, I will be able to learn more about Tolkien life, Christianity, how it impacted him, and how they relate to one another. From this will emerge the discussion of good versus evil, lust and desires and character similarities between those in the series and those in Christianity.
